Eli‎ finished day 2 of 5 for this round of chemo today. On Monday they drew labs and Eli’s platelets were low but not desperately low so instead of waiting to do all the paperwork they prepared everything so that when we walked in today it was all ready BH. So far aside from being a little weak which is probably a result of going to sleep very late as Eli has been reading a ton and playing games until very late hours he has been feeling pretty good.

This afternoon when we got home Eli was greeted by his favorite Shilos steak waiting for him. It was a real special treat and he took advantage and BAH ate the whole thing. On a different note the new medication which he began on Friday for the diahrea BAH has done miracles and instead of using the bathroom 15+ times a day it’s down to a normal 2-4 times which for Eli is good.

Eli was in CHLA on Thursday for lab draws and a DR appt which both went BH ok. His platelets aren’t exactly where they would want it but not terrible at all either. On Monday IYH Eli will be back for another round of chemo which he was cleared for by the DR. They will first do another lab draw and if his platelets aren’t exactly where they want them then he will first get a transfusions followed by chemo.

A side effect which didn’t happen for the first few rounds of this chemo has been once again extreme diahrea which they warned us and during each round Eli was on antibiotics to help it but now it seems to be out of control. As of today he started a high dose of stronger antibiotics to hopefully slow down the diahrea to a normal level.

Other then that Eli is happy and in a good mood lately even making it one night to a basketball game which he really enjoyed. He has been an almost regular for lunch at Shilos which he loves to and thanks to the “uncles” who brought him each time.

Monday morning Eli’s home health nurse ‎came and we got the results late in the day that he would need blood but not desperately but to play it safe we took him in Tuesday morning to get a blood transfusion. BH all continues to be ok and the next scheduled thing is a DR appointment on Thursday to see when Eli will be up for the next round of chemo. The chemo he is taking he can have many rounds of as long as it seems to be doing something which BAH that seems to be the case BH with minimal side effects.

Eli entertains himself and also gets out a decent amount when he feels up to it and is in the mood. He has also taught himself from reading books and seforim a tremendous amount. As long as he is happy and feeling ok we are very happy.

Please continue having Elimelech Ben Basya bsoch shaar choley yisroel in all your tefilos‎

BH Eli had a good night sleep and woke up to very good news. The cultures after 48 remained negative and the DR’S felt he was ok to go home. So after a platelet transfusion we were out of CHLA around Noon today and as usual Eli is getting right back to himself and we are all extremely happy to be home.

The antibiotics will continue at home for a total of 7 days all as a precaution to what may of been a infection but we would rather be safe then sorry. So his IV runs for about 30 minutes every 8 hours until he has completed 7 days. Nothing further is scheduled other then lab work at home IYH on Monday and a follow up DR appointment on Thursday. Looking forward beezrat hashem to a restful Shabos.

Please as always have Elimelech Ben Basya and all cholim in your tefilos.

BH the cultures remain negative and Eli’s blood pressure has also stayed at normal or above levels without IVs and therefore the decision was made to move Eli out of the ICU to the regular oncology floor. He has been in a great mood since being able to eat and is acting totally himself.

As a precaution they are going to keep Eli on IV antibiotics for a total of 7 days as its not typical for the blood pressure to go so low without an underlying issue. We look forward hopefully sooner then later to go home and restore some normalcy in Eli and the other kids lives.

Please as always have Elimelech Ben Basya and all cholim in your tefilos.

Eli was in the ER for about 2 hours where they were monitoring him and giving IV fluids while they were taking blood cultures etc. Very suddenly and quickly his blood pressure took a quick turn ‎and was extremely low. They right away moved Eli up to the ICU and put him on Dopamine which helps regulate blood pressure. It took a few hours to stabilize but BH it finally did.

Because of the blood pressure medication running constantly they needed a second IV for the blood and platelet transfusion as well as all the antibiotic that was ordered. It took 3 painful tries until they were finally able to get a vein to work.

BAH after the blood pressure stayed stable and the day went by they slowly were able to wean Eli off of it until late this evening were finally able to shut that IV off. BH Eli was finally able to eat once that took place and has been in a great mood ever since. The other good news and BAH that will stay that way is all the blood cultures remain negative and haven’t grown any bacteriaial infections. They will keep Eli on antibiotic as a precaution and IYH early Wed will move Eli out of the ICU to a regular room.

Please as always continue having Elimelech Ben Basya and all cholim in your tefilos. ‎

4/13/15

This round of chemo ended on Friday which was YT and we were in CHLA for a few short hours and BH all worked out ok. Came in pajamas and left in a suit directly to a kidsuh and YT seudah. Eli felt great and kept everyone entertained and smiling. Overall YT was beautiful and enjoyable everywhere we went and BH Eli was included and up to everything we did the entire time.

Sunday we celebrated an event Eli has been looking forward to for a long time his sister Sori Bas Mitzva together as a family in our home with many of our relatives. Monday morning Eli had his labs drawn and then was off to Shilos for steak lunch where he ate a large amount as he has been doing lately.

Unfortunately late in the evening tonight Eli wasn’t himself and quickly spiked a 102 fever and that was the end of a good long run of not having to visit the ER. We got there at about 10PM and they have drawn labs which we already know are low and will require a blood and platelet transfusion. Hopefully it’s just a side effect of last week’s chemo and IYH all the cultures will come back negative.

Please as always continue having Elimelech Ben Basya in all your tefilos. Hope to have a better update with good results on Tuesday. ‎

4/8/15

Eli finished day 3 of 5 of chemo today and aside from some nausea he BAH seems to be feeling ok. To try to help avoid running into problems over the second days of YT Eli will IYH get platelets on Thursday along with day 4 of chemo‎. We will also need to go by taxi on Friday there and back for chemo to finish this round.

So far on Chol Hamoed Eli has gotten around spending time with family and going one day bowling and today to an amusement park right after chemo!! It’s Eli’s choices whatever he wants and feels up to we are happy to do and he usually knows his boundaries and enjoyed himself very much. Looking forward to IYH an enjoyable 2nd days of YT as Eli will again begin recuperating from this round of chemo.

Please as always have Elimelech Ben Basya and all cholim in your tefilos.

4/5/15

Eli had the Pesach he has been looking forward to for a long time. He went to shul with his Zaidy and helped run‎ the Seder as he has done the last few years sitting from start to finish. Since he hasn’t been in school in a long time it was very impressive to see what he remembered from the past few years.

Starting Monday morning IYH Eli will be back for a few hours a day thru Friday for chemo. He has had this type of chemo a few times lately and BAH it seems to be helping while having some basic minimal side effects and beezrat hashem this time will be no different. We hope he will feel strong enough to join all the other kids in some Chol Hamoed fun.

Please as always have Elimelech Ben Basya and all cholim in your tefilos. A GUT MOED

4/3/15

BAH Eli had a great week. Monday morning the nurse came and drew labs which were a little bit low and they set Eli up for transfusions for Thursday. Monday afternoon Eli was picked up from home in a police car and driven to school where his whole class was waiting for him. They all got LAPD yarmulkas and we’re able to just play with the police car and hang for 30 minutes with Eli which was the first time he has seen most of his class in many months. Following that Eli got a inside tour of LAPD headquarters and met the police chief and got to sit in one of their helicopters. It was a great day that Eli won’t forget.

On Tuesday Eli was taken on a afternoon trip with Chai lifeline volunteers and had a real blast. Thursday morning we had transfusions and a DR appt set up at CHLA and they rechecked Eli’s blood and BH he didn’t need any transfusions after all. So we had 3 hours off in between lab draw and DR appt so we went back home. We met the DR who was BH happy with how Eli is feeling and cleared Eli for chemo starting Monday of Chol Hamoed for 5 days of IYH outpatient chemo.

Eli’s favorite YT of the year is Pesach as he sits at the head of the table and helps his Zaidy run the Seder we are grateful that IYH this year Eli feeling up to it and excited to be part of it as he has the last few and how he will for another 111 years.

Please as always have Elimelech Ben Basya and all cholim in your tefilos this Shabos and YT and we wish everyone A GUT SHABOS and CHAG KOSHER VSAMEACH.
