Eli had a great shabos from start to finish. He went to shul full of energy Friday night, enjoyed the seuda with his out of town uncle and aunt and some of his cousins and had a good nights sleep. Shabos morning he went to shul again enjoyed the kidush and then went on his own to join his bubby and zaidy and that side of the family for shabos lunch. The rest of the afternoon he relaxed at home and enjoyed the day. Of course he went back to shul for Mincha and Shalosh seudos.

We look forward to continuing treatment IYH on Monday again and hoping that there will be no side effects and that all will continue going per protocol and as planned.

Please continue to daven on behalf of Elimelech Ben Basya bsoch shaar choley yisroel that this treatment that’s scheduled this week will do its intended purpose and help Eli reach the ultimate goal of a refua shelayma bkarov. A GUT VOCH

Eli woke up in a good mood and feeling stronger as he BH has been gradually every day lately. He wanted to go to camp today and he and we felt he was up to it so he went and enjoyed very much for the few hours he lasted there. Bli ayin hora daily he is making progress in both the strength and weight departments and hopefully that will only continue but at a quicker pace.

Monday IYH starts radiation and hopefully it will go as planned with no side effects. It should be a in and out process and shouldn’t have to be in CHLA daily for more then 20-45 min from start to finish if all IYH goes as planned.

Please keep Elimelech Ben Basya and all cholim in mind this Shabos Nachamu and we should all be zoche to see the brochos of shabos he melizuk come to fruition.

On a side note beezrat hashem this is the last shabos that Chaya Mushka bas Hadassa Shaina will need to be in the hospital before she is done her treatment. She is always with a smile and the happiest girl you will ever meet. Please keep her especially in mind this shabos that she and cholim get what they deserve a refua shelayma bkarov. A GUT SHABOS

Eli was in a very good mood until he got to his appointment today which took a lot longer then we planned for. Initially we thought it was a 15 min appt but with delays and all the prepping and procedures they did it ended up being a few hours. They had Eli laying in this bean bag that they molded to his figure and then took out all the air in the bag which then became very hard molded to his body. The reason they do this is so that he will be placed each day in that molding and this way beezrat hashem he won’t need anesthesia for the radiation. They also drew lines on his stomach that they don’t want washed off for the next 2+ weeks so they can line them up also so that the radiation will IYH go only exactly on the area that was affected. BH once they were done Eli was back in a very good mood and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon.

Radiation is scheduled to begin on Monday and they don’t anticipate any side effects which we hoe is true. At worst they said there should be minimal nausea so hopefully that will be true. He will need 12 sessions of radiation and its done Mon-Fri so basically it will be 5 days a week for 2 weeks and then a Monday and Tuesday. Depending on how Eli takes to it IYH it will be done on that Tuesday but if he or we want a one day break along the line they don’t have a problem with that.

Hopefully things will continue with the protocol and schedule that Elimelech Ben Basya has been scheduled to be on and it will be done as quickly and painlessly as possible. Please as always keep Eli and all cholim in mind in your daily tefilos etc.

Eli had a relaxed day mostly at home for the morning but then early afternoon I took Eli to get some fresh air and decided to head to the beach for a bike ride. Eli isn’t quite up to riding a bike yet but he sat in the back and enjoyed the scenery and relaxation. Once again the stroller BH wasn’t needed at any point as Eli pushes himself to walk as much as possible and as far as possible.

On Thursday is the appointment with the DR that does the radiation to fit Eli into basically some “bubble” and that bubble is what they will place him in daily while receiving the radiation so that IYH he won’t move so that they can do the radiation without anesthesia.

We need to help Elimelech Ben Basya move along and continue gaining strength, weight and courage to fight this machla which beezrat hashem sooner then later will be a thing of the past with Eli and cholim being zoche to a refua shelayma.

7/16/13

BH Eli is slowly but surely gaining some much needed strength and weight. He still has a long way to go until he is back to his pre diagnosis condition but so far so good. Eli insisted on going to shul for Megilas Aichah where he sat and davened Maariv and followed every word in the megilla. He has not used his stroller bli ayin hora the last few days and although we haven’t walked very far even the amounts that he did walk up until now he needed it. He also is eating a larger amount and more often but still has problems holding it down. Hopefully the immodium he has been taking will help that problem.

On Thursday Eli has an appointment at CHLA where they will lay him in a bean bag which will form a mold of his body and they will harden that mold so that for the 12 radiation treatments he will IYH be getting he will not move so that they can do it without anesthesia. It doesn’t seem that the actual radiation will begin until at the earliest Monday. Other then that Eli is looking forward to his aunts, uncles and cousins coming this week some for vacation and some for my sisters chasuna.

Please as always continue to daven on behalf of all cholim and Elimelech Ben Basya so he can continue making more significant strides on the road to beezrat hashem a refua shelayma BKAROV and may we be zoche to see next years tisha bav turn into a yom tov.

7/14/13

BH Eli had another great relaxed day getting out to target and a few other stops and enjoying the day. He also ate a very nice amount and hopefully gained some much needed weight.

Nothing else major is going on other then doing what we do daily which is working with Elimelech Ben Basya to help him get stronger. Please as always keep him in mind in your tefilos etc.

7/13/12

Eli enjoyed a beautiful Friday night seuda and actually sat thru most of it a lot later then he has lately been able to stay up for. He ate, laughed and enjoyed all the company we had. Shabos lunch seuda we were zoche to be joined by Harav Elya Kanarek and his Rebetzin and Rabbi and Mrs Rothberg who are here in LA fund raising for Peekskill yeshiva where I learned for 7+ years. Eli sat thru the whole seuda and kept everyone laughing thru out. The rest of the day Eli relaxed and took a few walks and went to shul for Mincha and Shalosh seudos.

We hope to know when the initial radiation trial will take place sometime IYH this week to be followed by the 12 real radiation treatments he will be having. Other then that we look forward to doing what we strive to do daily which is help Eli gain weight and strength.

We are looking forward to a good and positive week for Elimelech Ben Basya bsoch shaar choley yisroel and we should be zoche to see Tishs Bav this year be turned to a Yom Tov with all cholim being zoche to a refua shelayma BKAROV. A GUT VOCH

7/12/13

We met this morning with the DR who does the radiation and he gave us the run down of the plan which is that beezrat hashem Eli will cooperate and will not move so they don’t need to give anesthesia for each of the 12 times. Radiation will be directed on the original tumor to destroy whatever may possibly be left and IYH not to allow it to re grow in the future. The actual radiation takes about 4-8 minutes but the prep takes a few minutes longer. We don’t have an exact start date yet but probably sometime at the end of the week or early the following week.

Other then that Eli relaxed and got out to a few stores and hung out at home. We are looking forward to s nice shabos BH at home.

Please keep Elimelech Ben Basya and all cholim in mind in your tefilos. A GUT SHABOS

7/11/13

Eli had bli ayin hora a very enjoyable and fun day today. He went to camp and went with the class on the bus for a trip to the Long Beach Aquarium. I met them at the aquarium and watched Eli enjoy every minute he was there. He was able to walk around quite a bit but we had the stroller with us as backup because there is a lot of walking around to do there. IYH as often as Eli feels up to it he will continue to go to camp and enjoy himself and at the same time reconnect with his class which beezrat hashem he will rejoin in the beginning of the school year again.

On Friday Eli has an appointment with the DR who does the radiation at which time we should find out when he will begin and how many sessions and how long each session will be. We are told it should be pretty quick and its all done outpatient.

Please as always continue to daven for Elimelech Ben Basya bsoch shaar choley yisroel as we hope to continue to only see daily improvements in all aspects.

7/10/13

After not having the best nights sleep Eli woke up in a good mood and decided he will actually go to camp today which BH he did and enjoyed. He lasted a few hours there and then spent the afternoon relaxing and going for walks. Later in the evening after he realized how tired he was he went to sleep a lot earlier then he has been lately and fell asleep pretty quickly.

On Friday Eli will meet with the DR that does the radiation just to show us around and explain the process. Other then that we continue daily to help Eli gain weight and strength so that he can continue fighting and winning the fight against this machla.

Please as always continue to daven for Elimelech Ben Basya and all cholim.
